Addendum Tourism in ACT Generic [ACT Assessment]

The Tourism Addendum is out!

It stems from an experiment conducted in 2024 that highlighted the shortcomings of the Generic methodology for tourism sector businesses. It allows for a more relevant evaluation of tourism sector businesses under the Generic method.

Main amended points:

  • Because tourist travel is a strong decarbonization issue in the Tourism sector, the Tourism Addendum allows for the qualitative consideration of this issue for companies that do not handle their clients’ travel, both in the customer engagement module and the business model module.
  • Because the tourism sector is diverse, it is not easy to provide a definition of what a low-carbon product is. The addendum proposes in the business model module to evaluate the definition of the evaluated company, if it has one.
  • Because the franchise model should not exempt the company from ambitious decarbonization goals, the addendum requires that the company maintain the same level of expectations for franchises as for its own establishments.

The addendum is used in addition to the Generic ACT method.
