The Fashion sector is the first one to hold of the ACT Guidance and develop an ACT methodology on their own, with the technical support of the ACT Initiative and the financial support of ADEME and Le Défi Mode.
The Fashion sector is responsible for between 2 and 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions (depending on the sources), and the GHG emissions from the sector have significantly increase during the past decades ; the ACT Fashion (Luxury, Mass, Premium) methodology will be a useful tool to assess the credibility and the ambition of the fashion companies.
What was the process to develop the ACT Fashion methodology?
The process was led by Paris Good Fashion, following the principles of the ACT Guidance and involved a Steering Committee composed of motivated brands, Climate Chance, WBA and ADEME.
The methodology was first challenged in a public consultation, that gathered 180 participants. Then an experimentation involving 12 volunteer companies brought the methodology from theory to reality.
The results of this experimentation are available in a dedicated report. Beyond the methodology improvement, the experimentation highlights the good practises and the topics on which companies need to make progress.
What are the companies covered by the methodology?
The ACT Fashion methodology encompasses Fashion brands as well as manufacturers and retailers of Fashion products and allows to assess the credibility and robustness of the companies’ transition plans.
