Update of the ACT methodological reference Framework

We are proud to announce the new version of the ACT Framework.

The Framework was first published in 2016 and was updated in 2019. As the landscape of transition planning and corporate climate responsibility has evolved significantly since then, the time was right to update it, to ensure that the related assessment methods remain at the cutting edge in terms of ambition, relevance and comprehensiveness.

Main stages in the process :

  • Two meetings with an Advisory Group, which provided feedback on the draft text before and after the public consultation. This committee brought together various organisations working on corporate low-carbon transition assessment.
  • Three-week public consultation in August-September 2024, which mainly targeted members of the former ACT Technical Working Group, cpilot companies during methodology development, WBA assessed companies, ACT users, etc. All the comments made during the consultation have been responded to and are set out in this document.
  • Weekly meetings gathering WBA, ADEME and CDP

The main changes concern :

  • More complete definitions, rules and guidelines
  • Updating performance, narrative and trend scores
  • Guidance, requirements and recommendations about GHG accounting, and how to take into consideration carbon credits / offsets, beyond value chain mitigation, and avoided emissions
  • Guidelines on the selection of relevant decarbonisation trajectories and rules on their use in ACT assessment methodologies
  • Specific assessment of transition enablers
  • Best practices regarding ACT assessments outputs

We would like to extend our warmest thanks to everyone who took part in this update.
